The Seven Laws of Pessimism

Have we just lived through one of the best years in human history? As we look at 2023 through the rearview mirror, that’s a defensible claim. In fact, the same thing could have been said at the end of pretty much every year since the beginning of the millennium (with the exception of the disastrous pandemic years of 2020 and 2021). Never before have so many people lived in affluence, safety, an...

the reality is they ruled out consistency and they showed their lack of it thereafter
As others have pointed out on here: please lose the 'background' (?) music. please!
I see no sources anywhere, no specific quotes or anything, no distinction between very different thinkers within the field….

Kısaca bir taraflarında patladı diyebilirz değil mi?
The so-called postmodernists (most of them rejected the term to describe themselves) were actually against identity politics and the concept of identity itself. Yes, they have a few similarities but their respective philosophies are very different from each other. Your reading of these philosophers is mostly a strawman created by critiques of the them. You should probably actually read them, even if you disagree with them, to critique them fairly.
Deconstruction is not nihilistic - in fact, Derrida was very interested in 'Negative Theology', á la Paul Tillich. In this way, Deconstruction can be said to be closer to mysticism than nihilism. Derrida, in my opinion cannot be a 'Postmodernist', because Decontruction would automatically find the inherent subordination of previous epistemologies, WITHIN Postmodernism.

The contemporary transgender movement (different from transsexual) is a feminised men’s movement, working to undermine women’s rights and gay rights. Period, as Americans say.
Bravo Helen and James, wonderfully written
The science of there being a gender spectrum in humans is ironclad…
Calling post modernism anti science is extremely dishonest
Naturopaths were actually curing people after attending medicine schools until a hundred years ago some dude named Rockefeller took over and got into the pharma business. Now look up where does 'pharma' comes from
I don't think one understands deconstruction very well at least in a derridian sense if one considers it to same as destruction or taking things apart. Derrida implied all binary oppositions (speech/writing being his most known example) exist in an inherently deconstructed state where conceptual boundaries vary in relation to time, space and eachother aka the flow of différance. He was mainly against logocentrism which tends to normalise fixed meanings and symbolic hierarchies instead of context and interdependent relations.
I think if you narrated at 80-85% of current tempo, it would be a lot easier to listen to (75% is just a touch too slow)
4:27 see thomas sowells explanation of this in intellectuals and society (i think) eg meta narratives are bad because it would leave intellectuals with no room to think and come up with ideas and therefore they cant show the world how smart they are. Hence personal truths are favored bc the intellectual says his personal truth must be considered rather than doing hard work and finding real patterns (ie truths)
Love him or hate him, got to credit Nietzsche with effectively starting “Post-Modernist” thought a century ahead of its time. I’d think he would be flattered by his alleged “destruction of western civilization” if it meant a revaluation and suspicion of age-old decrepit values that kept the European citizen happily subservient to the clergy and tyranny. Post-Modernism is about lucidity, and what it revealed is a society built on arrogance.
Postmodernism is afraid of the truth. That's why delusion best defines their reality.
Okay, the take from Alan Sokal comparing Creationist to Postmodernist I think is a bit intellectually dishonest. From what I've seen from some Creationist, they arent arguing against "Science". They posit the notion that ,whether Evolution is true or not to some degree, ultimately God is the necessary source of all things in the universe. Basically Socrates' unmoved mover. There is also arguements like the Fine Tuning arguement and the Ontological arguement that I believe hold philosophical weight as well. There several videos I've seen from people like Greg Kokul and Jordan Peterson that further explore these arguments at length. Meanwhile Postmodernism rejects all previous notions of either religion or an "Evolutionary narrative". Thus rejecting both, but exemplifiing the flaws of both narratives at the same time in their own arguementations.
I got to meet Graham a few months back in Brisbane. Hes a awesome dude and has the biggest heart
As a Frenchman, I feel tremendous sadness and pain that my country has such a deep part in the degeneration and ultimate destruction of Western civilization. Post-World War II French philosophy is, for the most part, truly horrific and nihilistic. They have done everything in their power to deprecate their country's heritage and achievements.
This is not postmodernism, this is "French theory". The alleged relativistic character of "postmodernism" only shows the heavy misconceptions this video reproduce. ¿Haven't you'all read Foucault, Derrida, or truely postmodern authors like Vattimo or Lyotard, with a little bit of CARE? All of those philosophers did write about truth, they believed in truth. It's astonishing how americans can be sometimes... Christ, give a break.
Wow... Just wow. You managed to ingurgitate the crap of the intolerant right, digest it and crap your own version of it... Slow clap. ... I know this is an american video, and that America has been completely f**ked up and twisted for a while now, but damn... This makes me sick. This whole video is bs. Plain and simple. Because it starts from a flawed starting point. "Woke" is not a bad thing. Never was. "Wokeness" is not a bad thing. Never was. What this guy does, is taking the twisted definition of wokeness that the intolerant right has been using and go with it. And that is a mistake. The first thing racists, xenophobes and haters do in general, is attack the words that discribe them or twist the words of what they want to belittle or destroy. For a very long time, homosexuals were put into the same basket as pedophiles. As deviants. Today, transgender people are put into the same basket as rapists. That's what they do: they twist words. Try to attach to them the meaning THEY want. And that is what they have tried to do with the word "woke". And this man and his group, instead of fighting against that manipulation from the haters, try to meet them half way. That is a mistake, because even meeting them half way is giving credit to what they say. There are idiots in every group. Just like there are idiot right wingers, there are idiot left wingers. There are idiot woke people who "go to far". That doesn't make the woke ideology wrong or bad. When you want to have rights, you've got to fight for them. And the right has ALWAYS depicted those who fought for more rights as dangerous deviants that will "detroy society". Black people who want same rights? Women who want equality? LGBT people? They used the same tricks to attack those groups. And that is what is happening now with the whole "anti woke" movement. ANYTHING that the right wingers don't like is labeled "woke". Don't play that game. Fight it.
Yeah no stfu americans and british intellectual rode that wave just as hard and amplified it.
Fantastic video! I didn't understand PM very well, you helped me muchly. I think the latest "Star Wars: Acolyte" mini-series was terrible because it was completely post-modern. The fans are clear they hate it. The Sith are post-modernists: evil!
Come on it was a inescapable consequence of rigid materialism of west.. it had to come
France is the country where the terms right wing and left wing were born. France is the most left wing country in the world (yeah way more than Cuba or Venezuela) because it is at its core, it runs in the dna of France since 1789 and the revolution. For french leftists, France's history before 1789 is barbaric, dark and evil, according to them France's history starts in 1789.
Liberal postmodernism is the official ideology of the Western capitalist dictatorship since the communist Red Army defeated the conservative Western capitalist dictatorship in 1945... ...and the Nazi philosopher Martin Heidegger is its putative (grand)father. Western philosophical, ideological and political irrationalism (conservative or liberal, premodern or postmodern) has been growing since the modern French Enlightenment Revolution, and since the modern Russian communist revolution it has become completely unhinged. Postmodernity is part and logical result of this degenerative process of the Capitalist Dictatorship whose only objective (apart from the objective of revaluation of capital) is to brutalize, disunite, isolate and confuse the working class to prevent it from unifying and destroying the capitalist ruling class. And postmodernity (irrational, primitivist and antimodern ideology) is absolutely and completely functional to this objective.
23:40 if stats is not taught in these 'Xxx Studies' disciplines - that points to their being based on ideology (where you aren't constrained by reality) rather than science (where you have to be) - who could bear to be constrained by pesky measurement ⁉️
I think these looneys were all paid verry well by globalists to push their One World Government in our throats !
Postmodernism is be what happens when we lose sight of Aquinas' Final Cause. Why existence is shot through with meaning. God.
Aquinas' Final Cause, Person at the ground of all being and change; God, Love is the philosophical, existential and total answer. We participate in BEING. Why we are moved by love and sunsets where we can catch a glimpse of Love.
I can see how you conflate Arab opposition to immigration of European Jews into Palestine to being supporters of "Hitler" is misleading. Germany was also supported by factions of the British Royalty without necessarily being a Nazi.
You are amazing Michal...stay safe and be blessed for all the days of your life...!
I would have liked for you to bring up outbreeding depression too. If two populations are too distant their children could have serious issues. Think about how much further a Sub-Saharan African is from a European than an Asian is.
about the blackpill i want to tell that it's not all about looks yes you can get a gf if you maxxed your money and status for example but it won't be an authentic attraction she is with you because you are an asset and settling for her and that's it and the problem with that after a while she could leave you or being in a dead marriage
Regarding women being "too picky" well it's when women who are not "catches" act as if they are, that is when "4's" expect "8's".
Shouldn't we learn to live on this planet before going to live on another? Maybe we could spend the vast sums of money needed for this "adventure" on preserving what is left of our natural world. This Mars thing is a diversion from deteriotating conditions on our planet.
